Private Tour or Group Tour in Morocco: Which One to Choose?

The real differences in freedom, pace, comfort and cost, and how to decide which one suits your trip.

Overview

One of the first choices when planning a trip to Morocco is whether to travel on a private tour or to join a group. Neither is better in every case. The right one depends on how you like to travel, how much freedom you want and what you wish to spend.

This guide compares the two honestly, so you can decide what suits your trip.

The main differences

Private tour

  • Your own vehicle, driver and guide for your own party only.
  • The route and the pace are set around you, and can change along the way.
  • You choose the hotels, the stops and the departure time.
  • The price is shared only between the people in your party.

Group tour

  • You travel with other people, usually strangers, in a shared vehicle.
  • The route and the timetable are fixed and the same for everyone.
  • Hotels and stops are decided by the organiser.
  • The cost is split across the whole group, so the price per person is often lower.

When a private tour makes sense

  • You travel as a couple, a family or a group of friends and want to stay together.
  • You have children, older relatives or someone with special needs, and want to set the pace.
  • You want to stop for photos, go slowly in a medina or spend longer in one place.
  • You have specific dates, or want to include things that are not on a standard route.
  • You prefer a quieter, more comfortable trip with a guide who has time for your questions.

When a group tour can suit you

  • You travel alone and enjoy meeting other travellers.
  • The budget matters most and you are happy with a set programme.
  • You prefer not to plan anything and are comfortable with a fixed timetable.

Keep in mind that in a group you share the schedule. If someone is late or the group wants a different pace, everyone follows the same plan.

Things to compare before you choose

  • How many people will be in the vehicle, and how large is the group?
  • What is included in the price: hotels, meals, entrance fees, the camel ride and the desert camp?
  • Is the route fixed, or can it be adapted?
  • How many hours of driving are there each day?
  • Who is the guide, and which languages do they speak?
  • What happens if you want to change something on the way?

How we work

Our tours are private. You travel with your own driver and guide, in a vehicle for your party only, and we do not mix travellers who do not know each other. The programme is built around your dates and interests.

Travelling with 8 or more people

If you are a group of eight or more, such as a large family or a group of friends, we organise the tour for your whole group. Because the cost of transport, the guide and the activities is shared among more people, the price per person is lower.

Tell us how many people are travelling and what you would like to see, and we will suggest a route and a price.

Tell us your dates

We reply with a route and a price, and you can change anything.
